Reread and use punctuation.

We know how to sound like pirates when we read, but now we need to use punctuation to help us make sense of all the stuff they say. Sometimes when you read something the first time, you're just thinking about getting the words right. Reread it and use the punctuation to make it sound better! Let's try it together.

"We be needin' the treasure we buried in your backyard!"

"Treasure!" the pirates repeated.

"Shush!" I said. "Not so loud!"

"Not so loud!" roared the pirates.

"The map!" said Braid Beard. "Hand over the map!"

"The map?" Everybody emptied their pockets. No luck.

Text taken from this book. We love it!
