Developing a Fiction Character.

Mrs. Ayres talked with BG about his character, Coco, and she asked an interesting question: "What makes Coco special and different from everyone else?"

You can show action in your pictures!

CN added lines to show how fast his vehicle was going...and the word "ZOOM!" helped too! Can you write like CN?

Roald Dahl's Official Website.

Superkiddos--we've been talking about writing like some of our favorite authors. I think if I could write like anyone, it would be like Roald Dahl (if I were writing fiction). I love how he has lots of action in his stories and how kids end up being heroes after having hard lives. Click on Mr. Dahl's photo to get to his official website. It's super(kiddo)cool!

Internet Safety.

Superkiddos, you know you are very dear to me, and so I think it's important that you check out this video on BrainPop about how to be safe on the internet. We talk a lot about how to be safe on the internet at school, but this video talks about how you can be safe at home too. Happy movie-watching!

Nonfiction Writing Celebration, Part 2!

After the presentations, we went back to our rooms and had yummy snacks and drinks!

We also read our books.

KM, EllaMae, and TL hung out and read books by each other.

Look! MH's mom, Mrs. Haywood, came too! Doesn't she look proud?

Mrs. Woodard came to our celebration...and so did Mrs. Holst, but she managed to escape without being caught on camera!

Allie read other people's books too.

WH and GC smiled...but neither of them looked at the camera! Come on, guys!

Now there's a cheesy grin, GC! You can see DT in the background reading a book, too.

Allie's mom and dad BOTH came and spent some time reading and talking to us. How cool!

MH, your face looks so happy that your mom came!

Mrs. Ayres and Allie are both dressed like very fancy writing presenters!

Quote of the Day.

BG: "You know, I feel much stronger since that bookshelf fell on me."

Here's EC's book cover about lunch with her parents.

Here EC shares her book with us.

BG: football expert. Can you see the number on his shirt and the football in his right hand?

Our Expert Writing Celebration!

Today we're having a writing celebration. It's where you have written a lot and you have a celebration because we all made All About books. Our celebrations are usually on Fridays.

We could either dress as something in our book or fancy, like we're doing a presentation. PN is fancy; ER is a cowgirl; KF is a swimmer; and CG is a cheerleader.

TL and KM are stunt riders; BG is a football player (see the football behind his head? He's about to throw it at the camera!); AW is a cat owner; MH is a dog owner.

Who in the world is reading our blog?

Superkiddos, I was checking our blog map to see who is reading our blog and I would kind of like to know more about those people. What do you think?

----------------------------------------
If you're visiting our blog, will you leave us a comment? Also, could you answer a couple of questions in your comment?

1. In which country do you live?
2. What is one of your favorite foods?
3. Do you have pets? What are their names and what are they?
4. What's the weather like where you live?
5. What's special about where you live?
---------------------------------------

(Here are Mrs. Overman's answers):
1. United States of America (Indiana)
2. Macaroni and cheese (pasta with cheese sauce)
3. I have two big dogs, Riley and Sophie, and a goldfish named Cougar.
4. Right now it's winter, but soon we will have spring and by summer it'll be very hot again!
5. Our town is known for all the lakes that surround us and many people here live on or close to the water.

If you're willing to answer our questions, thank you! We'd like to know you a little bit!

Oh, brother.

Superkiddos, I scanned DH's All About Dolphins book...and it never made it through to my email! Grr! I'm hunting for something cool to post from the internet but I haven't found anything I really like yet. Hopefully there will be a new post soon!

How to Make Snow Ice Cream by Ian.

Hi Superkiddos, this is Mrs. Overman's son, Ian! Today my mommy and daddy and I made snow ice cream. My mommy really wanted some ice cream but we didn't have any, so she Googled how to make it and thought you might like to try it too!

Here's what we did:

Try on your daddy's work boots and beg to go outside. When that doesn't work, ask to make snow ice cream.

Get a big bowl and set it outside while it snows to catch some fresh snow for your ice cream. We didn't get the bowl full, so we just scooped some off our deck.

Be sure to let your doggies play in the snow, but not for too long or they'll get too cold!

Have your daddy go out and get your bowl of snow. Beg to go outside and play some more.

Your mommy and daddy will probably tell you no, you can't go out. Instead, help your mommy get the other ingredients ready for your snow cream. You need: 1 cup of milk, 1/2 cup of sugar, 1/2 tablespoon of vanilla, and 8 cups of fresh snow.

Stir it all together. What my mommy isn't showing you is that she put her snow cream on a brownie! You know she loves chocolate.

I liked the snow cream. My mommy gave me a few brownie chunks in my snow cream too!

I only took about two bites and then I was full, but it was still good. You should try to make some at your house!
