News for the week
Hello, Friday! I hope your week has been super! We've done a lot of things this week, including:
- started writing personal narratives (stories about ourselves from our perspectives). We're learning to add details in both our writing and pictures.
- almost finished studying vowel sounds. This is VERY tricky for us! We're making progress and will continue to study these sounds throughout the year.
- began putting together our reading notebooks. We've added a cover page and a page to collect Long A words as we read them all year long!
- continued studying addition, subtraction, and even a little multiplication. We've also been trying to memorize things that add up to ten, such as six and four, five and five, and seven and three.
- started a new chapter book together: Matilda by Roald Dahl. Most of us are really enjoying it!
Things to remember for next week:
- Order Scholastic books! Click on the link on our blog (top right corner). :)
- Next Friday, September 19th, is the Walk-A-Thon. Our class will be walking at 10:30 that morning, and the teacher race is at 2:00 that day. That day is also International Talk Like a Pirate Day, so if your student would like to dress up as a pirate, we'd love that too!
- If you have sent in snacks for us this week, THANK YOU! We really love it!
- Please call or email me if you need anything. :) I'll be happy to chat with you!
